Soda Bread Contest Rules

Eligibility:  There are no age restrictions and the contest is open to everyone.  Judges may not enter.  Contest Committee members involved in any part of the registration, judging or voting process are not eligible.

Entry Deadline:  Entries must be dropped off at the designated table at the festival gate between 7:30 AM and 9:30 AM on Saturday, September 17, 2011.  No pre-registration is necessary.

Entry Form and Fee:
There is a $5 registration fee which entitles the contestant to enter one, two or all three bread categories.
Each contestant may submit only one entry in each category.  Payment of the Registration fee also gives access to the festival for the entrant.  Contestants do not need to be present to win.   Contestants do not need to drop off their entry in person.   However, they should have personally signed their entry form.  There are no ingredient restrictions. HOWEVER, please provide a list of ingredients to assist the judging.

Registration Process:
Upon arrival, contestants will complete an entry form and place each loaf in a plain paper bag provided by
the Festival.  The bags will each be marked by Festival staff with the Entry Number.  A committee member will
deliver numbered loaves to the judging room.

Judging:

Judging will occur at approximately 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 17th.  No contestants will be allowed in the Judging Area.
Winner Announcements:
Winners do not need to be present to win. All winners will be announced in a ceremony at approx 7:30 PM,
Saturday, September 17, 2011 (time subject to change) and on the festival website. Winners will also be notified
by phone (if not present). Winners will be announced to local media (though we have no control over publication)
as well as on the festival website.
Prizes:
Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each category of the  contest.  First place winners in each
category will receive $20 cash & a ribbon.  Second & Third place will receive numbered ribbons.   All others
will receive a participation ribbon.
